About

More than 35 years of telephone, data and camera wiring across the Greater Los Angeles area.

The work

Robertson Technologies installs and repairs low-voltage wiring: telephone lines, network cable, and the cabling behind security cameras. That has been the whole of the business for more than 35 years, across offices, small commercial buildings and homes.

Low-voltage work is unglamorous and mostly invisible once it is finished, which is the point. A good installation is one nobody thinks about again. The failures people do remember — the jack that never worked, the camera that records a bright blur, the run nobody can identify — are almost always decisions made during the install rather than faults that developed later.

How the job usually goes

Most jobs start with looking at the building. Cable routes, existing wiring, where the equipment is going to live and how someone will get at it in five years are all easier to settle on site than over email.

Existing wiring gets traced rather than assumed. Buildings accumulate telephone and data cable over decades, and a fair amount of it is abandoned in place. Knowing which runs are live, which are dead and which can be re-used is usually what keeps a job from becoming a bigger one.

New cable gets labelled at both ends. It takes very little time during an installation and saves a great deal of it afterwards.

Start with an email

Describe the building and what needs wiring. That is usually enough to say whether it is a straightforward job or one that needs a look first.
